Gasoline Price

Since the increase of gasoline price few days back, everyone seems to start saving their gas. With the increase of 55% in gasoline price, everyone is suffering from it. In Kuching, most family owns a car or two and some even more. Kuching people goes everywhere with their own cars and without a car to drive along, they might feel inconvenient. As buses and taxis are not too popular among Kuchingites (even an increment in gasoline). I bet that when tourists travel to Kuching and ask anyone on the road about buses route, Kuchingites are unable to help. Well, they might be able to tell you where the bus-stop is, at least. While for taxi, taxis-on-the-road are hardly seen, most of them were taken or reserved. You have to call in order to get a cab, phone numbers can be seen sticking on the public phones (will update with the number if i’m able to find one) sometimes. Most taxi can be found stopping at Kuching International Airport (KIA), outside hotels and some tourist spots, so you could be lucky if you can get a cab by the road side (you can see how unpopular buses and cabs are).

I believed that the increase of price in gasoline won’t stop Kuching people from driving around. Before the day that gasoline price boomed up, everyone spent one to two hours lining up at any gas station to feed up their car. I haven’t seen such a long queue since year 2005 when Kuching was sort of diesel.

Before gasoline increases its price, you pay RM20 and get 11+ liters of gasoline.
After the increase of its price, you pay RM20 and get 7+ liters of gasoline.

The difference is quite big even its just few numbers away. I can spend RM20 of petrol for few days before the increment but now, i spend RM20 of petrol in one day. That’s killing me ! 20 ringgit of petrol per day ?!? Duh ! If there’s going to be more increment, i guess people are starting to convert their car’s gasoline into cooking oil ! Or people starts to bicycle around, or ride a horse for work… we never know. Imagine that, instead of school bus, students were sent to school by a bunch of horses… that’s weird~ and am waiting for Kuching to build mrt ! When will the day arrived?

  2. It was invented in the US and is now starting to brought into Asia. It’s probably a mixing with water and gas using special tools that need to be installed in the car. :)
